Poverty Relief

Refugees

To help individuals and families who can not afford to shop at our 2 thrift stores, ReCycle North offers the Essential Goods Program. This program is a collaboration between ReCycle North and a host of social service agencies in northern and central Vermont to deliver vouchers for essential household items and building materials to individuals and families in need. These vouchers help individuals and families who are desperately struggling to make ends meet direct limited resources toward other pressing needs.

Additionally, ReCycle North provides other local non-profits with goods and services to help them fulfill their vital work. This includes office furniture, computers, appliances, and repair services for computers and appliances.

2005 Poverty Relief Accomplishments

  • Gave away nearly $68,000 worth of essential household goods, building materials and repair services to individuals, families and non-profits.
  • Served 103 individuals and families that were recently homeless.
  • Served 496 other low income individuals and families.
  • Provided furniture, equipment and other goods and services to 105 non-profit organizations for organizational development and client services.

Below are some stories describing how ReCycle North helps relieve the effects of poverty in our community.
