Dave
What a story Dave has to tell. As the Building and Grounds Supervisor for the Milton School District, Dave was working early one morning painting the high school’s auditorium in preparation for a theater production. While at the top of a 30-foot ladder, Dave lost his balance, fell, and landed on his back across a metal railing on the stage, cracking his back, and destroying one arm and a hip. After a miserable crawl out of the building for help, a runner on the high school track spotted him and called 911. Although he survived, Dave was left with physical limitations that prevented him from returning to the career he knew. He was faced with a decision: Start over from scratch and learn a new career, or let his injuries get the best of him and sit at home forever. Since sitting still is not something Dave does well, he and his vocational rehabilitation counselor found ReCycle North’s Computer Repair training program. After 20 years in facilities maintenance, and not diving into a textbook since high school, learning computers was going to be a whole new game. But ReCycle North helped Dave follow a rigorous study regimen and become a competent technician. He passed the two-part A+ Certification exam on his first attempt unlike over 30% of test takers nationwide who fail. Dave was recently approved for an extension in the program and is pursuing his Network+ Certification through ReCycle North. Dave’s motivation and dedication to stick with a demanding schedule are typical of the many injured workers who come to ReCycle North to rebuild their skills and launch new careers.
