Meet Sue, ReCycle North's "Girl Friday"
Sue has a helping streak that’s a mile wide. After a 35-year career at the local hospital, including 22 years as a nursing assistant in the maternity ward, she wasn’t about to sit at home with nothing to do. Sue offered her volunteer services to ReCycle North’s office staff in the spring of 2000 because she correctly assumed the organization could use her help and because ReCycle North is easy to reach from her home. Because of her Cerebral Palsy, and a shaky hand, Sue was unable to take on some computer tasks but has proved invaluable processing timecards, outgoing checks and mail, and taking charge of unruly filing cabinets. Sue also offers her tireless energy to a church thrift shop. One cannot help but be inspired to see Sue picking her way through the winter slush every Friday on her walk to ReCycle North when others may have stayed at home.
